Where are you from? Historically, our identity is based on our provenance, our birthplace, our hometown. But what is a hometown if not where you live or where you feel you belong? The places we live, the people that surround us, and our experiences shape and change us throughout our lives.
This boundaryless exhibition will explore the complexities of identity as fluid and the transience of home.
The work will be exhibited on this site and will be projected in a two-day exhibition in a physical space in London, to be announced soon.
The exhibition is curated by artists Shirin Majid and Anna Rose Kerr.
Exhibition dates: December 15 (online), January TBA (London venue)
Deadline: Midnight November 15, 2023
Criteria
We are seeking work that answers the prompt Where You From? But with a twist. The work must be a piece of art that represents your identity in some way which is photographed in the setting of a place where you feel you belong. This could be your living room, a forest, your best friend's house, your school, a park...anywhere that feels like home to you. The art that is photographed can be any style or medium. Example: A textile installation about changing identity photographed in a forest where the artist feels at home (see main art on homepage).
